OBTAINING PERMANENT RESIDENCE ("GREEN CARD")

There are several ways in which a person may obtain permanent residence in the United States. These include obtaining a green card through family, a job, or refugee or asylum status.

Other methods to obtain a green card include but not limited to:

WHAT IF I AM IN THE UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY?

There are a number of ways in order to obtain permanent residence in the United States. Generally, you must be eligible in one of the immigration categories. These include family who are either permanent residents or citizens of the United States; an employer who is willing to petition for you and offer a job; or you have family that has refugee status in the United States. If you are arrested and subject to removal/deportation proceedings, you may have certain forms of relief available to avoid having to leave the United States. It is important to find out about these types of relief and see if you are eligible.
